Q. How can Afterglow be used?

Afterglow can be used as an enhancement to any presentation. The presenter can draw directly on the screen which allows for a more interactive and engaging presentation. In addition Afterglow can be useful in the following ways:

Afterglow can be used for large theater style presentations where the presentation is being projected on multiple displays. By using Afterglow, the laser pointers position can be seen not only on the main display but on all other displays making it easier for the audience to follow the presentation.
Afterglow allows a laser pointer to be used during a Web Conference where the presentation material is being broadcast over the Internet. By using Afterglow, the position of the laser can be seen by the party on the other end of the conference.
Afterglow can be used as an inexpensive telestrator system by projecting maps, photos, and other assets to be illustrated on TV.
Afterglow can be used during tradeshow demonstations. With built-in mouse controls, the presenter is able to control the demonstation while better engaging with the audience.
Afterglow can be used to project and draw on the side of a building or any large flat surface allowing it to be used for advertising or PR events.

Q. What does the Afterglow System include?

The Afterglow System includes the following:

Q. Does Afterglow work over WebEx?

Yes, Afterglow works over WebEx, and can be used to enhance your web conference. Currently, the "Share Application" does not work properly, as WebEx places applications on the top layer of the screen. Please use "Share Desktop" in order to use Afterglow with WebEx. Also, the "White Board" function in WebEx becomes unnecessary as your entire desktop become a white board. So, there is no need to switch during your web conference.

Q. Can I purchase just the software and use my own webcam and laser pointer?

No, because Afterglow requires the use of a specialized camera and laser pointer to ensure stable operations we do not offer a software only version. Please do not purchase the additional license pack offered through our online store as the software is an additional license for those who already have already purchased Afterglow System which includes the hardware.

Q. Is a trial version available?

Because Afterglow requires the use of a special camera and laser pointer we do not offer a trial version of the product.

Q. How do can I get a demonstration of Afterglow?

We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and can provide onsite demonstrations of our product to local customers. For those in other locations please contact us, and we would be happy to setup a WebEx meeting to demonstrate and show the functions of Afterglow.

Q. Do you provide loaner units?

We do not offer loaner units for trials; however, if you are interested in using Afterglow for an event please contact us.

Q. Can you send me information regarding Afterglow?

A brochure for Afterglow is available is available in our download section. Please contact us if you have any additional questions regarding the product.

Q. Is there an OS X (Macintosh) version available?

We currently do not have a native OS X (Macintosh) version of the application; however, it is possible to use Afterglow using virtual machine software such as Parallels.

Q. What is your product warranty?

The warranty period is for 3 months from the date of purchase. Software version update(s) will be provided for free during the warranty period, if available.

Q. What language versions are available?

We currently ship an English and Japanese version of the product. We are planning other languages in the near future. Please refer to this site for updates on other languages.

Product Requirement Questions

Q. Will Afterglow run on systems not meeting the recommended specifications?

It may be possible to run many of the functions of Afterglow; however, this may affect the usability of the product. We recommend using a system that meets the minimum system requirements.

Q. Is it possible to run Afterglow on a Intel Atom based netbook computer?

Afterglow has been tested on several Intel Atom based netbooks and has been found to run without any issues. However, given the low processing power of the Intel Atom we can not guarantee that it will work properly on all makes and models.

Q. What is required in order to use Afterglow?

The following are required prior to using Afterglow.

Microsoft .NET Framework�E�Eersion 2.0 or Greater)
Projector (1024 x 768)
PC that is connected to the Internet
An Internet connection is required in order to activate Afterglow. Activation is only required on first launch of the product.

Q. Can Afterglow be used in a bright conference room?

In most cases Afterglow can be used in a bright conference with the default settings. However, in some rare cases it may be necessary to adjust the cameras aperture to filter out light from the room that can be misinterpreted as the laser.

Q. Can Afterglow be used outside?

Yes, Afterglow can be used outside; however, ambient light can be misinterpreted as the laser making the product unstable. Because of this we can not gurantee the outdoor use of Afterglow. If you are planning on using Afterglow primarily outside please contact us prior to purchase.

Q. Will Afterglow work on a rear projection display?

Yes, Afterglow will work on most rear projection displays; however, in some cases the non-reflective surface of the display can make it difficult to interpret the lasers position. Adjustments to the cameras aperture setting may be necessary to ensure proper operation of Afterglow. If you are planning on using Afterglow with a rear projection display please contact us prior to purchase to get the latest information on displays we have tested.

Q. Does Afterglow require a special projector screen?

No special projector screen is required in order to use Afterglow.

No, there is no reoccuring maintainance fee or license fee associated with Afterglow.

Q. How do I correct an mistake in my order?

An invoice will be sent out along with the product ordered. Please contact us if additional documentation is necessary.

Product Delivery Questions

Q. Can you deliver anywhere?

We should be able to ship to most domestic and international locations. If there is an issue with shipping to a particular location we will notify you at the time of the order.

Q. How long does it take to ship after placing my order?

After we've confirmed payment details, we will ship out the product immediately. In most cases the product will be shipped 7-10 business days following your order. Please keep in mind that shipment can be delayed due to the time of year, or the location to where the package is being shipped.

Q. Can I specify delivery date and time?

We will ship UPS or FedEx. You can specify a the shipment method at the time of purchase. We will not be able to gurantee the shipment on a specific time or day.

Q. Is it possible to change the shipping address after a product has been ordered?

Yes, please contact us immediately. However, if the product has already been shipped we will not be able to change the shipping address.

Setup Related Questions

Q. Is it easy to setup Afterglow?

Yes, Afterglow is very easy to setup and can be up and running in minutes in most cases. Please refer to the setup manual located in the download section of this site for specific instructions.

Q. Is there a special way that the camera and screen need to be positioned?

No, there is no special way; however, for best results setup the camera in a position where the projector screen can be easily seen with no obsticales. As long as the camera can see the entire projected screen Afterglow should work properly.

Q. Is it possible to change the position of the camera during use?

No, if the cameras position is changed while using Afterglow, it will be necessary to re-calibrate the position of the camera.

Q. Can Afterglow be used with a wireless camera?

No, we do not support wireless camera technology.

Q. Is it possible to use Afterglow overseas?

Yes, it is possible. We recommend the use of Afterglow (English Version) when using the product overseas.

Q. Can you please explain the setup procedure for Afterglow?

Please refer to the "Afterglow Setup Guide" located in the download section of this site.

Q. I'm having problems with Online Activation. Is there a way to activate Offline?

We provide Offline Activation to customers who are having problems activating the product online due to firewall issues or customers who do not have Internet connectivity on their presentation system. To activate Afterglow offline, follow the following steps:

Enter the Product Key into the Offline Activation area, and click the [Get Offline Activation Key] button.
Click the [Copy to Clipboard] button, and open Notepad and paste and save the file to your local drive.
Send the file to keyrequest [at] afterglow-inc.com.
We will send you Offline Activation Key.
Re-enter the Product Key into the Offline Activation area and copy the Offline Activation Key into the space provided.
Click [Offline Activation] to complete the activation process.
NOTE: If you have any issues with offline activation please contact us at via the online form.

Product Usage Questions

Q. Does Afterglow have controls for PowerPoint?

Yes, Afterglow has controls for PowerPoint. You can advance or go back a slide by shining the laser on the 「�E」「�E」arrows located in the right tab. If the Auto Clear is set to off, any annotations that have been made on the screen will remain for the duration of the presentation.

Q. How many systems can I install Afterglow on?

Afterglow can only be activated and used on a single machine. Additional license packs are available at our online store. If multiple licenses are required please contact us.

Q. What text quality can I expect using Afterglow?

Afterglow is a free hand drawing tool using a laser pointer therefore the quality will depend on the users ability to use the laser pointer.

Q. Is it possible to use multiple laser pointers?

Afterglow is not setup to recognize multiple lasers simultanously.

Q. How do you uninstall Afterglow?

Afterglow can be uninstalled from the Control Panel.

Goto Add Remove programs in Control Panel and select Afterglow. Click on Remove to remove Afterglow from your computer

Q. Is there a way to turn off the left and right tabs?

Yes, you can turn off the tabs by going to the Afterglow icon located in the task tray. Left click on the icon you and select [Toggle Panel Visible]. Please make sure that you select your pen type, color, and thickness prior to turning off the tabs as there is no way to change them. We also recommend that you turn auto-clear to ON as this will clear the screen automatically.

Terminology

Q. What is the Product Key?

The product key is required in order to install and activate Afterglow. It is an alphanumeric code that is located on a sticker inside of the software case. This number is unique and should be kept in a safe secure location.

Q. What is ".NET Framework"�E�E/dt>

The Microsoft .NET Framework is a new development platform that has been developed by Microsoft Corporation. Afterglow has been developed using this platform, and Version 2.0 or greater is required in order to load and launch Afterglow sucessfully on your machine.
